Jailbreak Ipod 6.1 6 Untethered

Hello everyone. I write this guide to not only tell you how to Untether jailbreak iOS 6.1.6, but to share my adventures and battles of achieving such a jailbreak.

First we will start with the guide.

  • Step 1: Download the latest version of Redsn0w and the IPSW 6.0 for your iPod Touch 4G (since this is what this guide is on, I'm sure it can apply to whatever other device allows iOS 6.1.6). Links for download are below the guide.

  • Step 2: [WINDOWS] Right Click the Redsn0w Application, hit Properties and go to Compatibility and Select "Run this program compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Then run Redsn0w as Administrator.

  • Step 3: Go to Extras, then "Select IPSW" and select the 6.0 IPSW you downloaded earlier. Note, it has to be 6.0 IPSW to trick redSn0w into allowing the jailbreak option.

  • Step 4: Go "<Back" and hit Jailbreak. Select "Install Cydia".

  • Step 5: Put your device into DFU Mode. If it keeps going into Pwned DFU mode instead of normal DFU mode, keep trying. If not, follow the guide after this one.

  • Step 6: Allow the Jailbreak process to occur. Once it's done, let your device boot up.

  • Step 7: Close redsn0w, and open it again as Administrator. Repeat Step 3, but after that click "Just Boot". Repeat Step 5 and allow the reboot to occur. This step is vital since its what completely puts Cydia onto your Device.

  • Step 8: Allow the tethered boot to occur. Once device is rebooted, open Cydia. DO NOT INSTALL THE UPGRADES YET. Search for "6.1.6". The results will come up with "p0sixspwn". Install and hit "Return to Cydia".

  • Step 9: Once that is done, there should be an option under "Changes" to install upgrades for Cydia. Do a complete upgrade and hit "Reboot Device" when the upgrade is done.

  • Step 10: Once is done, you should have a succesful iOS 6.1.6 Untethered Jailbreak! I hope this guide has helped you.

[How to go into DFU mode if you keep going into Pwned DFU Mode]

  1. Have the device powered on and at the home screen. Then, press the power button once to shut it off.

  2. Like the Redsn0w DFU mode guide, hold the power button for 3 seconds. At the last second, it should bring up the "Slide to Power Off Option".

  3. After those 3 seconds, continue holding the power button but now press and hold the home button for 10 SECONDS. Always start counting from 0, because if you immediately start at 1 and count to 10, you actually count 9 seconds. Around 8 seconds, the screen should "snap" to black.

  4. After the screen snaps to black on the 8th second, let go of the power button after the 10th second is complete and keep holding the home button. Once your computer recognizes your device, it should say normal DFU Mode. If it keeps saying "Pwned", try again.

  5. If none of this works, refer to the "DFU IPSW" guide here.

-- The Adventures --

One day, I decided to upgrade to 6.1.6 and jailbreak it. Little did I know that after updating it via on my device, there wasn't an exact way to untether jailbreak it. I was damned. So was my iPod Touch 4G. We spent many nights in depression, missing the good ol jailbreaking days.

Alas, I hatched an idea. After seeing that there is a black market way to do it, I had to investigate. I backed up my iPod, and said "I'm going on an adventure!".

I tried downgrading to 6.1.5 on iTunes, no luck. Error 3194, the worst of them all. It rained on me, nothing but shame. Then, It came to me. TinyUmbrella! With the TSS Server running, Error 3194 wouldn't happen. But oh no, apparently I couldn't start the TSS Server for some stupid reason! I had to go to Start>Services> and shut down the "World Wide Web Publishing" Service to allow the TSS Server on Tiny Umbrella to start.

All was good, Error 3194 ceased to exist. But, as I was walking over a sewer hole in the street of "iTunes" and Avenue "Version 11.0.5.5" trying to downgrade to 6.1.5, the hole erupted under me and blasted a ton of bullshit. I received error 11. It made no sense, considering that what I was doing wasn't even related to it.

I was dumbfounded. Then I figured that I'd have to try to jailbreak it on 6.1.6.

I tried at first, but it didn't work. After jailbreaking with Redsn0w, Cydia was shy of its appearance. I couldn't give up. So I went to Settings and erased all Content and Settings. Having already backed it up, I was good. But suddenly, Cydia appeared! But it was holographic. I tried to push my hands into it, but they went through it. Cydia would keep crashing on Startup. I tried rejailbreaking again, but this was a hell of a battle.

Me and the iPod fought. For many days and nights we battled. But then, I lost it. Bricked.

I was dumbfounded. My iPod suddenly bricked. I couldn't do much. Then I saw I had saved my SHSH blobs for 5.0.1. As I reached out my hand, it grabbed my hand, held a firm grip, and allowed me to unbrick it and downgrade my iPod to 5.0.1.

A new start at the old finish line. I upgraded to 6.1.6, and did the guide above. It was a success. After 3 weeks and 4 days, I won.

-- THE END --

Well, that's it for this post. If you have any questions or whatever, comment below. If it involved anything with errors, I will only answer such questions until 4/14/14 at 11:59 PM USA EST (one week from when this post was posted).
